Turmeric Pineapple Lemonade

My turmeric pineapple lemonade gives the classic drink a healthy makeover by substituting pineapple for sugar and adding turmeric and ginger!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • ¾ cup plus 2 tbsp lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 2 cups pineapple chopped
  • ¼ inch fresh turmeric root peeled
  • ½ inch fresh ginger root peeled
  • 1 pinch black pepper

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Notes

The amount of turmeric you want to add will vary on how accustomed you are to the taste. It can be very strong at first, so if turmeric is a new flavor for you, try adding about 1/8 inch of peeled turmeric root then increasing your dosage from there.
Don't leave out the black pepper! Without it, you body won't be able to absorb the curcumin and all the health benefits it offers.
I prefer my lemonade on the less sweet side, so if you like your drink sweeter, add more pineapple! Try 2 1/2 cups of chopped pineapple to start.
